Skin Glow Guide

Summer 2017 is all about that bare face GLOW! There's nothing like loving the skin you're in and finding quality products that really work. Don't get me wrong although I do LOVE makeup, I also love being able to put on some moisturizer mist a little rose water, grab my bag and go!

Skincare has always been a big thing for me especially since I have to wear camera ready makeup all the time. Taking care of your skin is an investment you owe to yourself. With that being said you also have to pay close attention to the things you consume, and also your stress levels because that too plays a factor in your skin's health.

I haven't always had the best skin growing up. I used to have embarrassing breakouts and the only thing that worked for me was Proactive a.k.a "skin crack". I literally had to ween off of that stuff because it was the only thing that worked, and I was determined to find other products. Now that I'm at a better place and my skin is finally acting right I wanted to share this post with anyone looking for a few good skin care tips. Please keep in mind I'm NOT a dermatologist just sharing some ahhhmazing products and skincare tips I've learned on this skin GLOW-UP journey.

My Skin Type: Combination.... Depending on what's season we are in my skin can get a little oily in my t-zone areas and a little dry in others.

Tip #1: STAY HYDRATED! I know you all have heard this a thousand times but it's really true. There's a reason why JLo and Gabby look damn good at their ages. Drinking plenty of water keeps your skin glowing, hair growing and it's great for moisture! often times I like to infuse my water for added flavor, plus it has many health benefits. Some ingredients I  like to add are mint leaves, berries, cucumbers, oranges, limes, and watermelons. Create your only little mix and let me know how it turns out! Here is a link that can help you determine the best detox water for your body's needs.

Tip #2: NEVER GO TO SLEEP WITHOUT REMOVING YOUR MAKEUP. Now don't get me wrong I do understand what happens on those super TURNT UP nights, but for all the other turned down ones do yourself a favor and remove that foundation. Leaving your makeup on clogs your pores and not to mention that messes up your beautiful bed sheets. A tip I have for this is sleeping in all white sheets. No matter how tired I am I'm going to remove all makeup to avoid ruining my bed set. Something you can use to remove your foundation is makeup wipes(Family Dollar brand is one of my faves) or some coconut oil and a cotton swab (Also my night time moisturizer).

Tip #3: ALWAYS KEEP SOME ALOE ON DECK. Now, this is a new one for me. I've always heard about the miracles of aloe vera but didn't believe the powers until I witnessed it myself. If you're trying to figure out what to use for spot treatment then this is it! I literally cut slices of the plant and rub it directly on blemishes and all over my skin to help reduce the appearance of scarring.

Whenever I find products that agree it's my skin I like to create different cocktails for it. In no particular order here are a few bomb products that I'm loving right now!

1. Caudalie Beauty Elixir: Makeup or no makeup you better believe I'm using this every day. I like to use this to prep and set my makeup and for the days I'm on my natural face glow I like to spray it on after my moisturizer to wake my skin up and shine! Plus it smells so heavenly my goodness!

2. Peter Thomas Roth Acne Wash: This is that stay ready so you don't have to get ready kinda cleanser. Although I no longer have acne problems (Thank you JESUS!) I still like to treat my skin before the hormonal blemishes try to unexpectedly visit. Around that time of the month, this is the face wash I use. It's super light and smells like grapefruit which is a great way to wake your skin up the in morning.

3. Rubber face exfoliator: I don't believe in super harsh exfoliating. My face is sensitive so I rather use this gentle scrubbie rather than my Clarisonic. Plus it's hypoallergenic and easier to clean. Bristle brushes sometimes can trap old buildup.

4: Philosophy Purity Wash: The perfect cleanser for removing makeup. Purity, as its name defines, is natural and clean. I've been using this for years and it's also a great Makeup brush cleaner.

5: Natural Face Scrub: I haven't discovered a face scrub that I'm in love with yet so I created my own. All I use is ground coffee beans, lemon, honey and coconut oil. I feel like I discovered this mask concoction on Pinterest and it's really good for skin brightening. If you have time this is also a good face mask that you can scrub off after 20-30 minutes. Super hydrating!

6. Being Radiant Incarnate Facial Nectar: I like to use this product a few times a week to help treat and moisturize my skin at night. Whether using this product or coconut oil I enjoy putting that needed moisture back into my skin. I can truly see my skin glowing in the morning after using this product. Thanks, Keysh!

7. Camu Power Cx30 Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Mask: this product Is perfect for skin brightening and helping to even your skin tone. I like to use this citrus filled mask a few times a week. I usually place this on about an hour before bed so that it can dry a little before I got to bed to avoid any mess. I don't recommend using this with a white pillow case because of its orange color. This product is high in vitamin C and really does work I notice a difference with every use.

8.Lush Rosewater & Lavender Toner: I use this toner after cleansing my skin. It's super lightweight and very refreshing.  I also love that this product is all natural.

9. Philosophy Hope In A Jar: If you are looking for a moisturizer that isn't oily then this is the one. It makes your skin feel and look supple minus the grease. This moisturizer is fragrance-free and works really good as a base for your makeup and primer.

10. Vitamin E Oil: Pure Vitamin E oil will always be a skincare essential for me. It's an antioxidant and plus it keeps the wrinkles away.
